The Invitation to be Known
This post could just as easily be titled “The Invitation to Be Free.” Or “The Invitation Out of Shame.” Or “The Invitation to Unconditional Love.” Or “The Invitation to Be Forgiven.” Because it seems to speak of all of those things.
I heard this song You Invite Me In during a solo at Easter service. I was struck by the standing invitation spoken to everyone who desires to be known, free, shame-free, loved or forgiven. Being “invited in” – so radically different from being “tolerated” or having to push your way in or wondering if you’re wanted.
